Hmmmm???

A good friend of mine, Katrina, just finished running a marathon earlier today. WOW!!!! It was her first marathon and she had been working soooo hard to get there. I am just so excited for her. It feels so wonderful to accomplish something that you've worked so hard for...and that sometimes you never thought you could do. Ya know, sometimes I think that there is nooooo way I could ever run 26 miles, but then again....I think back to a time when I thought there was nooooo way I could ever run 3 miles. But look at me now. Granted, it's not a pretty sight...but I do finish the 3 miles. Wonder if I could ever run a marathon...or a half marathon. Stay tuned to see......

3.21

Is it sad that it is a Friday night and I'm super pumped about going out for a run. The boys were occupied this evening so I met a couple of girlfriends for a night time run. I will be sooooo glad when the time changes and I have a shot at running in daylight!!!! It was about 41 degrees out. We ran 3.21 miles. I got a little winded at times but I kept moving!!! Thanks Laura for a great run. Katrina, good luck with the marathon on Sunday!!!!!

Pics

This is the lead vehicle and the RV for my team last year just before we started out on our journey.

We hang banners all over the RV displaying all the sponsors.

This gives you an idea of how it works. Lead vehicle (from which the picture was taken), then runner, then RV housing all the other runners that are waiting their turn. Believe it or not we have random people that will read the banners on the RV and will run up to us and put money in the runners HAND to help out the cause!!!!

Sooo tired....

I'm a little delirous while typing this so sorry for any mistakes. It's only 8:30 but it feels like midnight. I need some sleep! Anyway, I started my training back around the first of January. Let me just tell ya...you don't know anything about cold weather till you try to run in it!!! I HATE cold weather. I MAKE myself get out there and run. I started doing a Couch to 5k training program. I run when I can and most of the time I run after the kids go to bed.....at night...in the dark...in the cold...by myself....around my neighborhood. There is nothing more boring than running in the dark around the neighborhood about 10 times!!! BOOOORING!!!! On the weekends I get to run during the day and down the street which is fun. The other day I actually went running WITH someone. A couple of girls from church invited me over to run with them. Let me tell ya....I ran 4.18 miles (without stopping)!!! I was soooo excited!!! A month ago I NEVER thought I would see the day that I could run that far!!! It's got my confidence level up so I went ahead and committed to running the Azalea Trail Run 10k race the end of March. YIKES!!!!

I just sent out an email to friends and family asking for donations to the run. I have set a goal of $1,500 this year. I'm thinking that if money doesn't start coming in soon I may have to start baking and selling brownies or something (hmmmmmm, not sure people would WANT to buy any of my cooking though).

I've been pretty bummed this week. The biggest reason is Chris is out of town. It's lonely around here without him. We all miss him so much when he isn't around. Also, with Chris gone, I haven't been doing any training. That is a WHOLE week of running I'm going to miss...and after such a good run last Sunday. BUT....I'll get back on track next week.....

Ok, it's 9pm. This old lady is hitting the sack!!! I'm going to try and post some pictures from last year relay on here soon......

Here we go.

Ok, so I am blogging. I guess if you visited this page then you are at least a slightly bit interested in what I am up to. Well, see, I have dabbled in this whole running thing ever since I started running to loose weight after my second child. I haven't been as consistent as I needed to. Life just gets in the way sometimes. But....let's not make this too long and drawn out. The short story is two years ago I signed up to be a driver for the "Run for the Reason" event. I envied the running ability of the other runners sooooo bad!! I promised myself that the next year I would RUN the event. Well, 2009 rolled around and unfortunately I hadn't been doing any running. So again, I drove. Well, BY GOLLY, this year I committed. I figured if I committed my name to be a runner....then I would have to follow up with the training. Starting the first of the year I made myself get out and run. Do any of you have ANY idea how much I HATE cold weather. Running in 30degree weather is pretty miserable for me. But I knew I HAD to do it. And I have been mostly consistent. Chris is great at pushing me out the door because there are times when my head just can't tell my feet what to do.

And the cause is so near and dear to my heart. I have a hard time understanding why all those smart scientist people haven't come up with some sort of vaccine for cancer. Some sort of shot or something that keeps it from developing. I mean, we can get a man on the moon, ya know. But there are a LOT of things I don't understand. What I do understand is that I can do my part. I can help fund the research needed to find out more about this disease and what can be done to stop it!!!!

So, I'm gonna run in this event and I'd like for you to come along on the journey with me. I am writing this blog for two reason..... One, to hold me accountable. Two, so that all of you can be a part of this journey with me........
